Hi, doll.
Today’s full moon in Scorpio does not arrive with the fanfare of, say, a total solar eclipse, but it still packs a punch. Because Scorpio is the sign of the shadow and subcutaneous transformation, and because full moons reveal and release, a lot emerges under this domain.
A Scorpio full moon isn’t always pretty but she’s undeniably powerful.
To tell the truth, I’m tired just thinking about it. Then again, I’ve been tired this whole month. Eclipse season was a lot. Tax season was a lot. This Mercury retrograde in Aries has been a lot. And, you know, global destabilization is a lot, not that you need a newsletter from your intuitive to tell you that.
The good news is that, by the end of this week, we all may feel more grounded. Not elated, necessarily, but more capable of being the change we want to see in this world. Of building better structures, brick by brick.
This is what happens when the sun enters Taurus, as it did last Friday. Ruled by Venus, the goddess of loving resources, this sign’s calling card is the miracle that transpires when we move faithfully and steadily into the unknown, no matter what fears and troubles we carry. Taurus understands that to bloom, we must first dig deep—into the Earth, into ourselves, into all that is buried.
“There is reason, after all, that some people wish to colonize the moon, and others dance before it as an ancient friend.”—James Baldwin
These last three weeks have showed us how we need to heal to live in better harmony with each other, with ourselves, with nature itself. Now tonight’s Scorpio full moon is here to help us along this path, whether we like it or not.
Taurus can be thought of as lazy, but really she refuses to expend resources on undeserving outlets. Above all, Taurus will not be rushed. Like Scorpio, she has her own time—soul time, or kairos—and she takes however long she needs to do a job well.
This is my favorite time of the year, one of gentle, gorgeous growth. Beauty—the glory of anything and anybody in its optimal state— is everywhere.
This is when nature reminds us that she’s the prettiest and most powerful. And that, to reap her rewards, we must dance to all her rhythms—including the ones we don’t dig.
Which brings me back to this week.
Officially Mercury retrograde ends April 25, but it will hold us hostage throughout the weekend. Retrogrades often deliver their biggest blows on their way in and out, and while the planet of communication and transportation has been malingering in me-first Aries, the effects already have been wildly assholic.
People and technology have not been on their best behavior. Business as usual has been difficult, if not damn near impossible.
But while tonight’s pink moon may not have much of a bedside manner—indeed, sleep may prove elusive—it forces us to respect the cycles of the seasons and our souls.
This moon releases our resistance through the kind of synchronicities that cannot be written off as coincidences.
It reminds us that when we intellectualize our feelings, we only prolong them. It prompts us to gaze inward and backward, so that past does not become present. It stops us in our tracks to confront the realities we too often write off as delusions.
It teaches us to stabilize ourselves by plugging into the whole that is greater than the sum of its parts.
As with the eclipses, you don’t have to do anything to harness this full-moon magic. You can, of course, take salt baths, light candles, meditate, dance in the dark. You can list what you want to let go, and read it to Lady Luna.
I’ll probably do all of this, plus drink a great goblet of wine. (Lent is over, baby.)
No matter what, expect signs and sirens galore. Old loves and new lusts. Insights and insurrections. Breakdowns and breakthroughs, especially in areas of self-care. Especially in areas of money, honey.
Know that the tears shed and truths revealed prepare the foundation for sustainable growth. My advice? Ride it out, and have plenty of Kleenex on hand.
You don’t make the most of a Scorpio full moon. It makes the most of you.
"Don’t tell me the moon is shining; show me the glint of light on broken glass." —Anton Chekhov
Like many others, I have been confronting ancient fears and sorrows over these last four weeks. Apologies, especially to paid subscribers, for my silence on this and other platforms. I have deleted more words than I normally write, and have not felt ready to share my struggles.
But I’m glad to report that, no matter what challenges we are confronting, now is the time to divine better paths of service and joy. In Taurus season, beautiful change stubbornly blooms, like sunflowers sprouting in sidewalk cracks.
I can feel that change stirring in myself, and I feel it when tuning into your highest selves. Book a reading for yourself or a loved one, and share this newsletter with whomever it may help.
It is my honor to support your practical magic.
With waggling eyebrows and slow kitty blinks,
Sorry that will stay with me forever
"You don’t make the most of a Scorpio full moon. It makes the most of you."
It really made me understand the energy of this week more. of course just had a good meditation, and read this just after so, extra poignant, as usual.
Hope it's ok to post this in the comments Hermana!
